"Ring of Venus"

According to a mysterious passage in the Picatrix, whoever wears this talisman will be served by all things of Venus.  Rings and pendants were created in this somewhat rare election.

Book 2, Chapter 10 provides dozens of different planetary images for talismans, including cryptic descriptions of six rings for every planet except the Moon. Each one describes the effects as the owner being "served" by various things relating to that particular planet, including animals. I have tested some of these rings around animals and they do provide an unusual calming effect, but experience leads me to believe the real meaning and benefit is that many planetary spirits, who appear in dreams as animals, will serve the owner.

Who Is This For?

Anyone who wants to enjoy their life more would benefit from Venus, and this talisman draws Venusian spirits into its owner's life heavily.  According to Picatrix Book 3, Chapter 7, page 155 "Seek from Venus all things that pertain to her, such as petitions of women, boys, and girls, daughters, and generally everything pertaining to the love of women and carnal copulation with them, art, vocal and instrumental music, telling jokes, and all those who give themselves over to worldly pleasures, those who engage in vices, male and female servants, brides and grooms, mothers, friends, sisters, and all those similar to them...."

Election Standard

"The ring of Venus. She rules bronze and copper among stones. If a whetstone is carved with a woman standing upright, holding a comb in her right hand, on the day and hour of Venus when the Moon is in Libra, and set in a ring of red bronze, and whoever carries it refrains from lying with old women, he will be served by women and kings, and all flying and forest animals, chickens, locusts, and every flying thing having beautiful feathers, and all the works of Venus." (Picatrix Book 2 Chapter 10)

This is an excellent Venus election, requiring the Moon to be in Libra, her sign of exaltation.  Venus culminates on the Midheaven in her day and hour as the evening star. The moon is in the cusp of the fifth house, Venus’s joy, moving into the powerful angular fourth house. She is separating from a Mars square and an opposition to Jupiter and applying to trine the Sun, which receives her by Face. The Part of Fortune is conjunct with its ruler, providing an often underappreciated but welcome benefit. The moon is slightly slower than optimal speed, but is in a good house, applying to a tight trine and is quickly increasing in speed; in my experience this compensates for issues of speed with the moon. Although she is far out of orb, her next aspect is to trine Saturn and receive him by Exaltation, an especially powerful aspect. The Lord of the First House is also the moon, which is very well situated here.

How They Were Made

Not everyone is able to wear rings or prefer not to for various reasons, many prefer pendants or even loose stones to carry on their person.  Some prefer not to carry their talismans at all and keep them in a special place. For large stones and statues, wearing them is not an option and they serve as a small temple for that spirit. I made both rings and pendants for this election.

Pendants made of copper and Venus-ruled gemstones were made in addition to adjustable fit rings made of bronze. Whetstone, highly unusual for a talisman, was not feasible for several reasons and were made with well-established Venus materials. All were engraved with the image as instructed by Pictatrix. The pendant talismans are made of pure copper, engraved with the image of a woman holding a comb in her right hand per the instructions in Picatrix, and above her is the petition "Blessings of Venus" engraved in Paleo Hebrew. The ring is made of bronze, with the same image and the ancient Hebrew word for Venus, נֹגַהּ  "Nogah" in Paleo Hebrew. The ring is adjustable and will fit anyone.

Gemstones were combined with compatible Venus-related herbs.  Suffumigation was conducted with Venus incense from Liber Razielis, made by Adley Nichols.
