Sun Exalted in Aries
Who Is This For?
Everyone and everything on earth depends on the sun for its life. The spiritual influences of the Sun benefit everyone. All traditional sources agree that the Sun governs reputation, respect, leadership, wealth, and vital life energy. The image and petition words of a talisman focuses the spiritual energy captured during that moment, but all planetary talismans are endowed with the overall qualities of that planet. No matter which particular image your talisman is created with, a sun talisman will gradually influence your life in ways that match its astrological configuration.
Election Standard
In its day and hour, the Sun is dignified by Exaltation, Triplicity and Face as it rises on the Ascendant, one of the strongest places it can be. The moon is also in the first house and exalted in the next sign, Taurus. As an added bonus, the benefic North Node is in the second house on the cusp. The moon’s speed is not exceptionally fast, which isn't as critical of a factor for a Sun talisman, but the Part of Fortune is conjoining her, an incredibly fortunate aspect! Picatrix states in page 71: “You should know that the ascendant is more fortunate and stronger if it has a fortune in the sign that is rising, and also in the second house.”
Picatrix, Book 3, Chapter 7, page 155 states, "Seek from the Sun those petitions that are appropriate to him, such as petitions against kings, the sons of warriors and kings, exalted people who delight in justice and truth and abhor falsehood and violence, desirous of good reputation and seeking popular acclaim, officials, clergy, physicians, philosophers, exalted people who are humble, perceptive and magnanimous, older brothers, fathers, and the like."
Likewise, Book 4 tells us on page 245 to "ask from the Sun to be feared and have glory, the command of armies, courage, rule over lords, the destruction of kings, the lighting of fires, and the virtue of shining light into shadows.”
These passages are referring to ritual petitions, but talismans draw on the same energy source. Picatrix and the other traditional sources were typically written for royalty, generals or other extremely wealthy people in the medieval era. The vast majority of people today will never need spiritual assistance to deal with a king, but the human experience ultimately changes very little throughout history.
Today we don’t have nobility and aristocrats like society was structured a thousand years ago, but most people have a supervisor at work, a position of authority. The owner of the company is not a lord or king, but is in a somewhat similar position to the nobility of old. These are people with considerable money and influence, whose opinions and decisions affect those who are employed by them. The average person working in an office today would likely benefit from a sun talisman by experiencing a better relationship with a supervisor or come to the attention of someone higher in the chain in a good way, bringing about positive life changes and probably more pay. People are people no matter what era, and the sun gives life to everything on earth. A sun talisman brings enhanced vigor and life energy, making life in general more pleasant. Sometimes they bring unexpected miracles, like an unexpected promotion and/or large pay raise. I personally experienced this after making several personalized Sun talismans around this astrological configuration, as have several other people who have used it.
How They Were Made
Sun talismans are made with garnet, gold plated brass, garnet, carnelian, silver, pyrite, tiger’s eye, bloodstone, and other traditional materials attributed to the sun and were suffumigated with solar incense made from the instructions in Liber Razielis (Book of the Angel Raziel). When herbal components were added, rosemary, Saint Johns Wort and marigold were used.
Book 2, Chapter 10 of Picatrix provides many images of the Sun:
"The image of the Sun according to the opinion of the sage Beylus is the image of a woman standing on her feet in a chariot drawn by four horses, with a mirror in her right hand, while her left hand holds a stick above her breast, and above her head she has the similitude of flames.
"The image of the Sun according to the opinion of Hermes is the form of a man standing on his feet, as though he wished to salute those he sees; in his left hand he is holding a round shield, and under his feet is the image of a dragon.
"The image of the Sun according to the opinion of Picatrix is the image of a king sitting on a throne with a crown on his head, and having the image of a crow before him, and under his feet is the figure of the Sun written above.
"The image of the Sun according to the opinion of other sages is the image of a baron standing erect in a chariot drawn by four horses; in his right hand is a mirror and in his left hand a shield, and his clothing is saffron colored.
"An image of the Sun. If you wish a king or kings to overcome and conquer everyone make an image of the Sun in the form of a king sitting on a throne with a crown on his head and a crow before him and under his feet these figures in ruby or oriental ruby, (carnelian) when the Sun is exalted. The king who carries this stone will conquer all other kings and his opponents."
Book 3, Chapter 3 provides an additional image of the Sun:
"The image of the Sun is the image of a beardless man with a beautiful face, having a crown on his head and a lance in his hand, and before him is the image of a head and a man's hand and the rest of his corpse like a horse with four hooves, lying reversed, that is with hands and feet upraised."
