Seal of Saturn - Book of the Treasure of Alexander

"When Saturn is in the twenty first degree of Libra or in the tenth degree of Aquarius and the Moon aspects him in Libra or in Aquarius, and Mars is cadent, from Saturn, take seven mithqals of black lead, make from this a seal with a square signet and engrave on it the figure. Use it when the Moon aspects Saturn in aforementioned signs. Anoint the signet with the blood of a black goat.

"Whomever uses it will be feared by enemies, their merits will be well noticed, no one will look elsewhere when you give advice and no enemy will be able to destroy you without just cause. Use as we have advised, because it will do all what we have told. It is important for the wearer to be pure and to not enter filthy places or toilets. [Alternatively] anoint the inner part of the signet with the blood of a crab from the river or a fish." (Sixth Art, Poison Edition)

Saturn is known as the Greater Malefic in astrology and is the oldest and most feared of the planetary deities.  This fear is often taken too far and is unfounded with astrological magic. When Saturn is dignified and exerts his beneficial influences, he is without peer in the gifts he bestows.  According to Agrippa, Book 2 Chapter 22, Saturn "helps to bring forth or birth, and to make a man safe and powerful, and to cause success of petitions with princes and powers". 

A Saturn talisman influences people in positions of authority to favor its owner.  In the later Solomonic grimoires, Saturn was used to find minerals and hidden treasures. One of Saturn's powers is to discover hidden things and secrets.

The Book of the Treasure of Alexander contains talismans requiring the most stringent astrological configurations, some of them so rare that they can only be made once in a lifetime. The book recommends Saturn be placed in 20 Libra, his Degree of Exaltation, or 9 Aquarius. The book strongly implies that 9 Aquarius is just as powerful as the Degree of Exaltation and is used for other talismans.

Saturn is the slowest moving planet and takes almost three decades to return to a particular sign. For perspective, Saturn will not be in Aquarius again until approximately the year 2050. 

According to the book, these talismans cause the wearer's enemies to fear them, their merits to be noticed, and protects against enemies attacking them for unjust reasons. The book strongly advises the wearer to not let it be exposed to filth and elsewhere says that it should be worn sparingly because the influence of Saturn is especially strong. 

Election Standard

Saturn rises in 9 Aquarius in his hour, the sign where he rejoices and rules. The Moon is applying to sextile Saturn from Aries in the third house, her joy. 

I did not use an election with the Moon trine Saturn in Libra because Jupiter was in Aquarius as well. That configuration (Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius and Moon in Libra) is used for an especially malevolent image found elsewhere in the book. .

How The Were Made

Talismans were engraved in lead and set in steel bezels. Saturn herbal materials (sage, cumin and fumitory) were placed inside the bezels and suffumigated with Saturn incense from Liber Razielis. A small amount of fish scales were also placed inside the bezel, per the book's instructions.
