2nd Face of Aries – Wealth

 “There ascends in the second face of Aries a woman dressed in green clothes, lacking one leg. This is a face of high rank, nobility, wealth and rulership.” (Picatrix Book 2, Chapter 11)

According to Picatrix, this talisman will bring money, promotions, and good repute to the owner, qualities that are commonly associated with the sun. However, the second face (aka Decan) of Aries is becoming known for the sometimes shocking events that occur in the lives of those who have these talismans. Planetary talismans in rulership, exaltation, and lunar mansions have grown popular while interest in Decan talismans remain almost nonexistent. Many are sinister, others seemingly of little use, and others’ purposes vague. II Aries is one of the glaring exceptions.

Who Is This For?

Simply put, everyone can benefit from owning this talisman. Most of our daily efforts are directed towards improving our station in life, to provide for ourselves and loved ones. Obtaining money is the goal that makes up most of our day in one way or another. An improved reputation or promotion of some kind indirectly leads to more money by making connections with people who can provide better opportunities.

The revival and use of astrological magic, especially Picatrix, is still in its infancy and the Faces, also known as the Decans, remain an outlier for various reasons. However, this particular talisman has produced startling results for some of its owners. I have personally witnessed several friends inexplicably receive thousands of dollars soon after obtaining one, and one of the modern pioneers of reviving the use of Picatrix received over one million dollars with this talisman in circumstances that were somewhat unnatural and certainly unexpected. Election Standard

The Decans are implied to be among the most powerful astrological configurations in Picatrix. They are also among the oldest, with evidence of their use in Old Kingdom Egypt almost 5,000 years ago and even played a significant role in the earliest recorded history of Solomonic magic 2,000 years ago (see our extensive history article for more information on this fascinating and forgotten chapter of human history).

Aries is the sign of the sun’s exaltation, widely considered to manifest the best qualities of the sun, and the second face (also referred to as a decan) is an exceptionally strong dignity, perhaps the strongest. Picatrix cryptically alludes to this in Book 2, Chapter 11. “You should know that in the aforesaid discussion of the faces of the signs there is the greatest secret of great benefit, that cannot be understood except by deep study in the art of astronomy by those who have good intellects and acute and subtle at extracting foundations and profound subtleties. This is because one planet has the power to impede the effects of another planet, and the power of a term is more powerful than the power of a face and the power of a face is more powerful than the power of a sign.”

Arguably one of the most venerated occult philosophy texts of the past 2,000 years, the Corpus Hermeticum states that the 36 decans are far beyond the planets and zodiac in power, subservient only to the Demiurge (Creator God) in the Greco-Egyptian spiritual hierarchy.

How They Were Made

The list of Decans in Picatrix unfortunately do not provide recommendations for materials, metal or stone. However, Book 3, Chapter 3, page 140 provides some valuable hints. “The color of the second face of Aries is yellow and the color of gold…” Furthermore, the description of the image itself states that it is a woman wearing green clothing. The stone should be of a yellow, gold and green color. Medieval lapidaries overwhelmingly attribute chrysolite (peridot) with natural properties of wealth, making this an excellent choice. AAA grade, emerald-cut, 100% natural and untreated peridot gemstones were chosen as pendants in sterling silver bezels.

Lemon Chrysoprase also fits the description, with its unique blend of yellow, gold and light green tones. 100% natural, untreated stones mined in Australia were used. Prehnite, mined from the Appalachian Mountains, were also chosen for its unique green-gold color. Ginger powder, a solar material according to Agrippa, was attached under each stone before engraving.

Tiny images of the Sun’s sigil, along with a woman showing one foot, were carefully engraved on the surface of the gemstones and suffumigated with Razielis Sun incense made by Adley Nichols.

Astrological Conditions

No election is perfect, but this election is as close to perfect as one can hope.

The sun rises in the second face of Aries in its hour. The moon is increasing in light and applying to trine the sun, it’s sign ruler, with reception from Leo in a succedent house. The first house, representing the owner of the talisman, contains both Jupiter and Venus, which is the ideal configuration according to Picatrix. The North Node is present as well, a rare instance of all the benefics together in the first house. “If you find both the moon and lord of her house favorably placed the working will be good in all things and well completed, and you will obtain what you desire, and the end will be good. This will be even more so if the lord of the ascendant is a fortune and is in the ascendant or another of the angles, of if it is an infortune and favorably placed. Even better than this is to have Jupiter or Venus rising or in aspect with the ascendant, for then the business at hand will proceed easily and obtain a good result and accomplish its goal easily and swiftly.” (Picatrix, Book 2, Chapter 3, page 70)
